“(Y)ears of Change”

Audio and Video

These pieces are meant to be experienced with headphones. Go grab a pair — We’ll still be here!

(Y)ears of Change sonifies data sets of global glacial mass, world sea level measurements, and global temperature readings to control and manipulate the spatial placement of sound events throughout the composition in, “Prescience”, an ambisonic data sonification installation.

Within the (Y)oC Instagram account, regional data sets are sonified and visualized to create a version of (Y)ears of Change that is more accessible to a wider audience of listeners, and examines specific data dichotomies found in nature such as wildfire acreage and snow level in the United States. (Y)oC aims to create feelings of stress and mounting pressure in it’s listeners in hopes that it will inspire them to do their part in leading a sustainable life.
